Dutch man has found himself on the wrong side of the law in Jamaica, after more than $28 million worth of cocaine was reportedly found in his luggage when he checked in to board a flight at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.
The flight was destined for Brussels, Belgium.
The man, whose identity has not been made public by the police, was arrested on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
According to reports from the police, the Dutch man was accosted by operatives from the Narcotics Division about 5pm on May 9, while he was checking in to board his flight for Brussels.
After a preliminary interview, the police said they became suspicious, searched his luggage, and reportedly found 6.1 kilograms of cocaine concealed in “false compartments”.
The drugs seized have an estimated street value of J$28,311,513 (€168,258), the police said.
