The Marley family have partnered with Silo Wellness, a leading global psychedelics company to launch Marley One, the first global functional and psychedelic mushroom brand.
The announcement was made during the launch of the first Marley Natural dispensary in Jamaica at the Bob Marley museum on Hope Road in St Andrew on Tuesday.
The researcher behind the brand, CEO of Marley One and Silo Wellness, Douglas Gordon, explained to the Jamaica Observer that the brand is really an opportunity to help people who are suffering from mental health issues with the use of psychedelics which have powerful mental healing powers.
“So what it does is help us to regenerate some of the nerve endings in our brains and also to redirect and reinterpret trauma,” Gordon explained.
The brand, to be launched in the next two months, will kick-start with five products, one mind, one flow, one body, one harmony and one rest, which include a range of functional mushroom tinctures. Psilocybin or ‘magic mushrooms’ are naturally occurring and are consumed for their hallucinogenic effects.
The need for the functional mushroom brand arise after research by Silo Wellness showed “that from a mental health perspective the solutions that are there do not work…They [pharmaceuticals] acknowledge that it does not help 30 per cent of the people that need them,” Gordon told the Caribbean Business Report. He further explained that as the world progresses, natural medicines are now replacing some of the synthetic pharmaceuticals that people have been relying on for years.
