The NY Post follows Biden’s cannabis conundrum week..
Presidential hopeful Joe Biden once again addressed his stance on the effects of marijuana — reportedly clarifying to reporters on Monday that he doesn’t think it’s a “gateway drug.”
“I don’t think it is a gateway drug,” Biden said on a conference call, according to CBS News. “There’s no evidence I’ve seen to suggest that.”
The former vice president said “some in the medical community” believe marijuana needs to be studied further to determine whether it could lead to other drug use.
Biden’s Monday interview comes weeks after he was widely scolded for telling a Las Vegas town hall crowd that not enough evidence “has been acquired as to whether or not it is a gateway drug.”
“It’s a debate, and I want a lot more before I legalize it nationally,” he said at the time. “I want to make sure we know a lot more about the science behind it.”
The presidential candidate told reporters Monday that he only said “some say” marijuana is a gateway drug.
