The school fees of a 17-year-old boy who was found in possession of marijuana has been paid by police officers from the Thika Police Station It is a gesture that was fronted by Police Constable Shirleen Maria who led her colleagues to contribute to the teen The officers were compelled to touch the boy’s life after learning that his mother is sick and the family is struggling to pay bills

Police officers have offered hope to a young boy who was recently found in possession of marijuana by fundraising to ensure he has school fees to resume his studies.

According to the National Police Service, the 17-year-old boy had been released on a free bond by the court. He was due to answer charges relating to possession of bhang, however, Police Constable Madam Shirleen Maria from Thika Police Station offered a lending hand.

Details indicate that when Ms Shirleen and her colleagues learnt that the boy’s mother was ailing and the family was unable to raise his fees and clear rent, they chose to help.

Madam Shirleen and her colleagues raised funds to support the family, she further promised to support the boy in the coming second term,” reads part of the police statement.

The police service hailed the officer and her colleagues for giving hope to the minor as he mends his path to being reformed. Her actions go a long way in proving that kindness to humanity is one of the greatest virtues one can have.
