Korean National Intelligence Service Says Eating Hemp Infused Food Overseas Involves Korean Citizens In A Drug Crime

In Thailand, they also sell menus with hemp on pork belly that Koreans enjoy.

And that’s why they call them intelligence services !

The National Intelligence Service has warned that if you go to countries where cannabis is legal during the holiday season and unknowingly consume food and beverage containing drugs, you could be involved in drug crimes.

According to the National Intelligence Service on the 5th, when purchasing local food and beverage products in a country where cannabis is legalized, you should check whether there are seven or nine-pronged leaf designs and English notation “cannabis,” “marijuana,” and “weed.”

In some states in the United States, such as Canada and Thailand, where cannabis is legal, you can easily access hemp-containing cookies and drinks at restaurants and convenience stores.

In Thailand, they also sell menus with hemp on pork belly that Koreans enjoy.

Food called “drug gimbap” and “drug tteokbokki” in Korea is used to mean that it is delicious enough to be addicted, but Thailand’s “cannabis pork belly” actually contains hemp.

The same goes for “non-alcoholic hemp soju,” which has a similar design to Korean soju. The NIS explained that the phrase “including hemp ingredients” is written in Thai, so there is a possibility that it may be mistaken for regular soju.

As ‘whitening mushrooms’ found in Canada are classified as drugs in Korea, caution is needed. You should also be careful about ‘drug candy’ distributed in some Southeast Asian countries.

An NIS official said, “There is a possibility of a setup crime that attempts secondary crimes such as kidnapping or imprisonment after allowing overseas travelers to take or consume drugs,” adding, “It is a method of extorting money after threatening to report drug intake to an investigative agency.”

The National Intelligence Service plans to place posters urging caution against drug crime exposure at the departure hall of Incheon International Airport, while producing card news and posting it on its website and social network service (SNS).
