Counted among them is Lauren Rudick, a veteran cannabis attorney who this year launched her own boutique firm that includes attorneys Jessica Gonzalez and Fatima Afia, and business and tech consultant Kelly Whyman.
Rudick told the Law Journal that she would eventually like to see the attorney headcount at her nascent firm grow to 10, but says she’s in no hurry at this point—with the continued federal prohibition of recreational weed and a patchwork of laws among the states, there’s still a lot of uncertainty in the industry.
“It’s very easy to chase a lot of shiny objects right now,” she said.
Thus, Rudick said she would prefer to build things out slowly and add to her team with deliberation over the next few years.
