The Judiciary Police detained a foreign citizen at the Macau Airport with 89 plastic-wrapped packages of cocaine in his digestive system.
According to the authorities, the 31-year-old man was intercepted on October 30 upon his arrival in the SAR with 900 grams of cocaine concealed in his digestive system, with an estimated market value of 3.08 million patacas.
The Judiciary Police stated that the cocaine packages were discovered after a body scanner was used on the suspect, public broadcaster TDM reported.
Authorities revealed on Saturday that the detainee had traveled to Macau from a flight originating in Paris with a layover in Singapore, where drug trafficking is punishable by the death penalty.
The suspect admitted to the authorities that he was to receive 23,000 patacas for transporting the drugs, and the Judiciary Police believe that the final destination for the packages was not in Macau.”
