Police caught a whiff of the birthday bud while responding to a car accident.
A 26-year-old man had his birthday plans go bust after police sniffed out his celebratory pot stash.
The day had already taken a turn for the worse — the man was a passenger in a car that was involved in an accident, but when police arrived on the scene, they caught a whiff of cannabis, reports the Lowestoft Journal.
The man, reportedly a skilled woodworker with ambitions of opening his own business, admitted he had a small amount of cannabis in his possession and showed it to the police, Ipswich Crown Court heard this week.
He was also already on a suspended sentence and was reportedly upset and apologetic during his arrest.
Despite breaching the conditions of his sentence, the judge opted not to send him to prison. Instead, he was ordered to pay £100 (about $172) to cover court costs as well as a £100 fine.
