Here’s their take
At MAPS, one of our Seven Principles is to “Be the Bridge” and work to bring psychedelic consciousness to the attention of new audiences and potential new allies. It’s no surprise, then, that some of us might find ourselves among the incredible, creative people seeking to change the world at SXSW.
Last week, MAPS was well represented in Austin. Four members of the MAPS team spoke on five different panels — including a featured session on the main stage. MAPS-affiliated researchers, MAPS-trained therapists, and MAPS study participants also spoke. Needless to say, the yearly conference that celebrates the convergence of tech, film, music, and education made space to talk about psychedelics in a big way.
MAPS Global Impact Officer, Natalie Lyla Ginsberg spoke on two panels. She participated in a featured session with comedians Eric Andre and Reggie Watts and the team from Good Trip about psychedelic representation in TV and film, and she spoke on a panel examining psychedelic capitalism and culture.
MAPS Founder Rick Doblin spoke on a panel about marijuana research with Dr. Sue Sisley, met with Joe Rogan and, and joined Eric Andre on stage during a stand-up set for an impromptu chat about LSD.
Devon Phillips, MAPS Conferences Associate, spoke on a panel with Incubus Lead Vocalist Brandon Boyd on the connections between psychedelics and music.
Lianna Sananda Gillooly, MAPS Strategic Initiative Officer, spoke about Psychedelics and the Next Economy.
