Maryland: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) course teaches students how to skillfully recognize and properly evaluate impaired driving suspects

Overview

This is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) course which will teach the student how to skillfully recognize and properly evaluate impaired driving suspects, from the initial observation of the vehicle to the arrest and processing of the suspect.

The student will be certified in the Standardized Field Sobriety Test battery (Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One-Leg Stand) as developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and in the use of the Preliminary Breath Testing (PBT) instrument.

The course will also cover enforcement strategies and issues surrounding Miranda and Implied Consent. In addition, you will learn how to properly document your observations for courtroom presentation.

Students must bring note taking materials and a hi-liter.

Dress is professional casual or uniform of the day.
