Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission Launches Public Awaremess Campaign

The Cannabis Control Commission (Commission) is excited to provide you updates as we continue standing up the legal, adult-use cannabis industry in Massachusetts.

The Commission and the Department of Public Health (DPH) recently launched a new public awareness campaign, More About Marijuana. It is designed to help parents and guardians start talking with kids about the risks of underage consumption as well as provide helpful tips and information about navigating the legal cannabis industry in Massachusetts.

Aside from our public awareness campaign, we have been reviewing submissions received from two surveys launched last month. This past July, clerks from all 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts received a survey to identify where municipalities are with implementation.  Additionally, individuals who applied for Economic Empowerment priority status were sent a questionnaire to gauge their experience with the licensing process so far.

To date, the Commission has approved 24 provisional licenses for:

• Retail (9)
• Product Manufacturing (6)
• Transport (1)
• Independent Testing Laboratory (2)
