Following in Pritzker’s footsteps A McHenry County Judge on Monday issued an order to expunge and impound 1,877 low-level, misdemeanor marijuana convictions.
The NW Herald reports
Chief Judge of the 22nd Judicial Circuit James Cowlin entered the order following a brief court hearing at 1:30 p.m. at the McHenry County courthouse in Woodstock. The expunged and vacated convictions include only misdemeanor marijuana possession charges that were not associated with a felony offense, said Dan Wilbrandt, co-chief of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office’s criminal division. The circuit clerk’s office will mail notice of the expungements to the last-known addresses of each affected party.
Anyone who suspects their case might have been included in the sweeping expungement should visit www.mchenrycountyil.gov and navigate to the circuit clerk’s page for instructions on how to update his or her address. Notices also will be sent to each of the arresting agency within McHenry County and the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, McHenry County Circuit Clerk Kathy Keefe said.
