The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities has launched a multi-week training program across the three provinces authorized for legal cannabis cultivation.

The initiative aims to enhance agricultural production quality and ensure that Moroccan cannabis products meet international market standards.

According to an agency official, the training sessions, held over two weeks in each of the three regions, follow an agreement signed in early January.

The program provides guidance to farmers, cooperatives, and investors on best agricultural practices, covering seed selection, soil preparation, fertilization, irrigation, harvesting, and drying techniques.

These practices adhere to Bons Pratiques de Production Agricole (Good Agricultural Practices) to ensure high-quality yields.

A key goal of the training is to help all participating farmers obtain certification in good agricultural practices, a prerequisite for selling Moroccan cannabis products globally.

Alongside the training, regulatory meetings are being held with certification offices to ensure compliance with international buyer standards, thereby boosting the competitiveness of Moroccan products in foreign markets.

Regional directorates are closely monitoring the program’s implementation. A cooperation agreement has been signed between certification offices, cooperatives, and investors to guarantee adherence to established standards.

The agency reports that these efforts have already led to significant productivity improvements. Farmers who followed the recommended agricultural practices have seen their average yields rise from 1.8 tons per hectare last year to 5 tons per hectare, strengthening Morocco’s position in global markets.

This program marks a pivotal step in improving productivity, enhancing product quality, and increasing the competitiveness of Moroccan agricultural exports.

During the past cultivation season, Morocco’s legal cannabis sector saw notable progress. The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities focused on strengthening farmer compliance and refining the regulatory framework.

As part of this effort, the agency issued 3,371 licenses, including 3,056 for cannabis cultivation and 315 for related activities such as processing and export.

Additionally, 7.6 million imported seeds and 1,717 quintals of local seeds were approved for the cultivation of 2,169 hectares, producing a total of 4,082.4 tons of cannabis. The legally cultivated area was divided into 1,701 hectares of the local Beldia variety and 468 hectares of imported strains.
