Special Announcement: Cannabis Law Institute NCBA is excited to announce the addition of Congressional Representative Edwin (Ed) Perlmutter (D – Colorado) to our second keynote conversation alongside Sundie Seefried, CEO of Safe Harbor Private Banking. Congressman Perlmutter joins Congressman David Joyce (R – Ohio) and Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D – Oregon) as our Congressional Keynote Speakers at this year’s Cannabis Law Institute. Congressman Ed Perlmutter has actively championed the reform of outdated banking laws that have curtailed the industry’s ability to operate in a safe, efficient, and transparent manner. Earlier this year, the Congressman co-authored H.R. 2215, the Secure and Fair Enforcement Banking Act (SAFE Banking Act), stating that “We need to allow financial institutions to provide services to legitimate and regulated cannabis businesses in order to ensure all small businesses and their employees are treated fairly – and most importantly, help reduce the threat of crime, robbery and assault in our communities and keep the cash out of cartels.” Congressman Perlmutter joins Sundie Seefried, CEO of Safe Harbor Private Banking. Safe Harbor has designed and created a compliant full-scope cannabis banking program that has withstood the scrutiny of federal and state regulators. Under Sundie’s stewardship, Safe Harbor Private Banking has succeeded in removing cash from local communities, making Colorado safer for the public and assisting law enforcement. Together, Congressman Perlmutter and Sundie Seefried will discuss the current state of banking, functional roadblocks to banking from the industry side, and how congress is working to help the industry address what remains one of its largest problems. |
