Vijfde wietexperiment teler Leli Holland (Village Farms) start vrijdag 7 februari met leveren

Village Farms, the parent company that owns 80% of cannabis experiment grower Leli Holland, announced in a press release that it will be delivering cannabis to coffee shops within the cannabis experiment for the first time on February 7.

In mid-February, it was already known that the first harvest for Leli Holland had been completed. It was also then announced that they would be delivering in two weeks. That eventually became three.
“Today’s news marks the culmination of almost five years of work by our team to commercialize Leli’s activities (…)”
But well in time for the date of April 7, on which all participating coffee shops in the cannabis experiment must switch to selling exclusively products made by the growers. And that despite their deliberate delay.
The highly secured facility in Drachten produces 2,500 kilos of cannabis annually. The nursery, housed in a former factory building, required an investment of 10 million euros.
Michael DeGiglio, President and Chief Executive Officer of Village Farms International, noted in the press release: “Today’s news marks the culmination of nearly five years of work by our team to commercialize Leli’s operations, and we are excited to begin shipping to Dutch coffee shops and meet our previously announced timeline for launching sales. With a long-established culture of legal cannabis consumption, a zero-tax policy on regulated products, and a significantly more favorable pricing environment than Canada, the Dutch market represents one of the most attractive cannabis investment opportunities globally. We are confident that we can continue to execute a profitable international growth strategy and look forward to continuing to work with the Dutch government to create a model for success in the international regulation of cannabis.”
Notable in that comment was that the tax situation in the Netherlands for cannabis is being addressed and seen as a major opportunity.
