The pace of change in our industry is indeed staggering, and it’s crucial that we adapt to protect our businesses. The Cannabis Control Board’s recent approval of Proximity Protection Waivers without due process is a concerning development.
As you know, these waivers can infringe on the 1,000-foot protection zone that retailers are entitled to under the regulations. What’s more, retailers have no say in the matter and no avenue to appeal or object to these decisions.
This is why we’re asking all retailers who value their Proximity Protection to sign the AFFIRMATION IN SUPPORT immediately. We need to make our voices heard on this critical issue.
For our members who need a waiver to become operational, we support you and believe that the opportunity to obtain Proximity Protection should always be available. However, there must be a due process in place to ensure fairness and protect the rights of all stakeholders.
Remember, what affects one of us today could affect any of us tomorrow. We need to stand together to ensure the long-term success and stability of our industry.
