Newark: Grotto Pizza manager charged with selling cocaine to employees, customers

The manager of Grotto Pizza is accused of selling cocaine to employees and customers inside and outside of the Main Street restaurant and bar, according to court records.

Michael Gordon-Somers, 40, of Elkton, Md., was arrested Feb. 23 and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, drug dealing, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a revoked license. He was released on his own recognizance.

The investigation began in October when a tipster reported to Newark Police that he had witnessed Gordon-Somers engaging in hand-to-hand drug transactions inside the restaurant, which is a popular nightlife destination among University of Delaware students. He also alleged that Gordon-Somers used drugs to take sexual advantage of young male staffers, according to court records.
