Northern Ireland: Cannabis, cocaine and ketamine were found hidden in a load of Spanish olives

Usually this story would sit in our bust of the day but I think it deserves upgrading to breaking news especially for the fact that the import covered very succinctly what’s currently in demand

A cross-border policing operation has led to the seizure of £6.5 million (€7.8m) worth of drugs hidden in a consignment of olives.

The cannabis, cocaine and ketamine were found hidden in a load of Spanish olives and were seized by the PSNI at Mallusk near Belfast.

It followed an operation undertaken in conjunction with the Garda National Drug and Organised Crime Branch.

The two forces collaborate under the auspices of the Joint Agency Task Force.
