Northern NSW council approves Zac Efron’s building plans for fully sustainable ‘hemp house’

Zac Efron‘s dream of building his fully sustainable dream home is one step closer to being realised.

A development application was lodged in August on behalf of the Iron Claw actor by Joost Bakker, an environmental activist and friend of the star.

Bakker, a former florist, is a well-known environmental activist and designer and often posts content related to sustainable housing on his social media.

The proposal for the zero-waste home, named in the DA as ‘Futurecave’, in the New South Wales northern rivers town of Tomewin, has been given the green light from Tweed Shire council, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The 36-year-old High School Musical actor purchased the bushland getaway near Byron Bay for $2million in 2020.

The development application requested to build an off the grid ‘zero waste’ six-bedroom two-storey pad on the 128 hectare spread for $2.685million.
