NZ: Police searching for firearms found a false wall leading to underground cannabis operation

When Pax Brian Rasmussen told police he didn’t have a firearm, they searched his home. As well as the weapon, they found a false wall leading to an underground cannabis growing operation.

Rasmussen (21) pleaded guilty to charges of failing to comply with a firearms order, cultivating cannabis and posessing cannabis in Nelson District Court on Monday.

According to the summary of facts, police informed Rasmussen in October 2021 that his firearms licence was temporarily suspended while police assessed it.

Two days later, police went to his address to collect Rasmussen’s licence, arms, and ammunition. While Rasmussen gave police his licence, he told them he didn’t have any arms.
