The Cabinet for Health and Family Services has amended regulations governing the retail sale of hemp-derived cannabinoid products and their use as food additives. Notably, retail establishments that register with the department prior to December 31, 2024, are exempt from both the initial $2,000 permit fee and the 1,000-foot school buffer zone limitation.
The amended rule, 902 KAR 45:012, aims to standardize safety measures, ensure consumer protection, and limit youth access to adult-use cannabinoid products.
These regulations, filed on November 13, 2024, address a range of issues, from licensing requirements to product safety standards.
