he Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) says a multi-agency investigation into a marijuana growing operation in Henryetta resulted in 54,000 plants being seized and over two dozen workers detained.
On Tuesday, agents and officers from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, District 25 Drug Task Force, Creek Nation Lighthorse Police, and Oklahoma City Police Department served a search warrant at a marijuana growing operation located on Dustin Road in Henryetta tied to an investigation into criminal marijuana trafficking.
“During this investigation, evidence shows large loads of marijuana being moved off this property and trafficked out of state onto the illicit market,” said Mark Woodward, spokesman for OBN.
The illegal grow operation was massive, according to Woodward, who said 54,000 plants were seized and 28 workers detained and interviewed.
“Each plant can potentially get up to $1,500 a pound and sometimes as much as $4,000 a pound if it’s going even further from Oklahoma, such as places like Brooklyn or New York or the Bronx,” he said.
The raid could have potentially taken at least $81 million in drugs off the streets of Oklahoma and beyond, according to Woodward.
He said the bust sends a potent message.
“The message is that anybody that’s coming here thinking this is a safe haven to grow marijuana is sadly mistaken,” Woodward said. “We will aggressively go after anybody who is either operating without a license or who’s hiding behind a license, but operating criminally.”
Arrests are pending as the investigation is on-going.
