Police busting an illegal cannabis grow-op posing as legal hemp in Oregon were likely surprised by its sheer size, but also that two large swimming pools had been filled with water in the drought-ravaged state to feed the illicit operation.
The large-scale, criminal grow-op was discovered last week in Yoncalla, Ore. when officers with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) and Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) executed a search warrant after receiving anonymous tips from concerned citizens. About 150 greenhouses containing 49,152 marijuana plants were located on the property, carrying an estimated street value of US$50 million ($63 million), notes a statement from the DCSO.
