Philippines: P3-M worth of marijuana plants destroyed, five drug suspects arrested in Kalinga

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – About 15,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants worth P3 million were uprooted in the mountains of Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan in Kalinga, authorities said in a June 16-17 report.

Police also arrested five illegal drugs personalities as they continued their relentless war on drugs in the Cordillera region.

In June 16 reports, police arrested Jhonel Yabo Brique, 20; Bernardo Maglantay Campos, 19; Jassem Karl Annay, 35; Limel Niko San Pedro, 34; and Jayson Aquino Bullo, 27, in separate buy-bust operations.

Jhonel and Bernardo were arrested by the operatives of Baguio City Police Office after they were caught selling one plastic sachet of shabu weighing more or less 0.5 grams with a standard drug price of P3,400 to an operative acting as poseur-buyer.

On the other hand, Jayson was arrested by the operatives of BCPO Abano Police Station (PS7) after he sold one plastic sachet of shabu weighing more or less 1 gram worth P6,800 to an operative acting as a buyer.

In another buy-bust operation, Jassem was nabbed by Baguio Police’s Pacdal Police Station (PS3) after selling one plastic sachet of shabu weighing more or less 0.5 grams worth P3,400. The raiders also found from Jassem a separate plastic sachet containing .5 gram of shabu.

The suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the respective operating units for documentation and proper disposition while charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.
