Police seize 25 pounds of marijuana, other drugs after 911 call for smoke inside apartment

A 911 call for a report of a smoke condition inside a Warren apartment building on Thursday led police to find a large number of drugs including 25 pounds of marijuana, and over $2,500 in cash.

When Warren police and firefighters arrived at the apartment building on Kickemuit Road crews determined that the smoke was coming from a second-floor apartment.

Firefighters said while they attempted to vent the apartment, police officers and the second-floor tenant, Anthony Miranda, 31, went inside the apartment to assess any damage.

While assessing the damage officers saw several “large vacuum-sealed bags” allegedly containing Marijuana in plain view inside Miranda’s apartment, according to police.

During the investigation, a large number of additional narcotics were also found in Miranda’s apartment along with cash and scales.

In total police say they seized around 25 pounds of marijuana, 5 marijuana plants, 8 ounces of Psilocybin Mushrooms, 1 ounce of cocaine, MDMA (Molly), and marijuana wax (Dabs).

Police say they also seized $2,754 and scales.

Miranda was taken into custody and was held overnight.

He was arraigned on charges of one count of possession with intent to distribute Marijuana over 5 kilo and four counts of possession of a controlled substance schedule IV.
