Full Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager is responsible for analyzing legislative policy impacting the company and will assist in making recommendations for the company’s external policy positions. They will assist the Director of Public Affairs in managing external affairs strategies to further the goals of the business and represent the company favorably in the community.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Policy Analysis and Regulatory Affairs (50%)

  • Monitors, researches, and analyzes current laws and regulations as well as legislative and regulatory policy proposals to understand operational and compliance impacts to the business
  • Coordinates with Compliance, Legal, and Leadership to evaluate organizational impact to propose company positions
  • Communicates policy impacts to leadership and advises on company positions
  • Organizes cross-departmental teams for policy review and feedback
  • Attends, monitors, and participates in state and local legislative and regulatory meetings on behalf of the company

Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Affairs (40%)

  • Develops and executes corporate social responsibility initiatives, community engagement and outreach activities
  • Collaborates with other departments to effectively communicate corporate social responsibility, and community engagement, opportunities and activities to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serves as key contact for community and philanthropic partners

Communications and Public Relations (10%)

  • Organizes quarterly company-wide meetings
  • Develops concepts and content for press releases
  • Identifies and coordinates opportunities for industry and organization thought leadership and awards including media requests, relevant speaking events, and conference participation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience with policy analysis, technical or operational compliance
  • 2 years of experience leading or supporting project management
  • Must hold or obtain a valid Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee Badge
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of experience supporting community outreach and engagement
  • 1 year of experience supporting corporate social responsibility programs
  • Compliance experience in the Colorado cannabis industry
  • Knowledge of the Colorado cannabis industry, state and local laws, and political landscape

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly travel to various locations throughout Colorado
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights, weekends, and holidays as determined by management
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, stretch, walk, bend, twist, reach, perform repetitive motions, and carry boxes or items

 

  • Pay Range: $75,000 to $90,000
