PTC Web Desk: In the largest drug seizure of 2025 so far, the Amritsar Rural Police in Punjab have confiscated 30 kg of heroin believed to have been dropped by a Pakistani drone in the Gharinda area. The operation was carried out based on intelligence inputs, leading to the arrest of one suspect. The development has been confirmed by Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav.
The consignment was reportedly air-dropped by a drone from Pakistan into the Gharinda region. Acting on a tip-off, the Amritsar Rural Police team intercepted the consignment and apprehended one accused from the spot. In addition to the heroin, the police also seized a car used by the accused.
He further said the arrested suspect was involved in large-scale heroin trafficking, recently receiving a significant consignment through a drone from across the border. An FIR has been registered at the Gharinda police station, naming one accused while others are currently listed as unidentified.
The authorities are actively interrogating the arrested person to gather information about his accomplices. The police suspect that a larger network is involved, as smuggling such a massive quantity of heroin would require multiple operatives.
