Rwanda’s expects first cannabis production site will be ready this month

Rwanda intends to position itself as a key player in the cultivation and export of medical cannabis. With the’ establishment d’ cannabis production plant in the northern district of Musanze, under the direction of King Kong Organics (KKOG) Rwanda, the country is about to’enter the global market of therapeutic products based on cannabis.

Investment in the’ Cannabis Industry in Rwanda

In 2021, the Rwanda legalized the cultivation of medical cannabis for the purpose of’export. The rwandan subsidiary of Global KKOG, an American company, has obtained a five-year license from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to grow cannabis for medical purposes,’extract and’export. KKOG has invested 10 million dollars in machinery, the construction of’ installations and the’ import of cannabis seeds.

The KKOG Rwanda plant should be fully operational from’ici september 2024. CEO Rene Joseph recently announced that the company has completed 70% of the facilities and’elle plans to start production on schedule. The’completion of the’ installation has been delayed due to the need to build a new’ access road to the site, but once operational, it will contribute significantly to the economic growth from country.

According to the New Times, Mr. Joseph reportedly said : « We plan to finish the work d’by the first week of September ».
