AHP is seeking a passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable policy associate to work with our team of subject matter experts in cannabis regulation and other areas of public health and policy. The candidate should have working knowledge and experience in policy development and project management. Candidates with experience in cannabis regulations or other politically sensitive issues are preferred, particularly candidates with experience in promoting social equity. In addition, the candidate should possess strong client management, analytical, and writing skills. Only candidates committed to anti-racism should apply.
The cannabis regulatory associate will primarily be assigned to work under subcontract to Cannabis Public Policy Consulting, LLC (CPPC), which has multiple contracts with state, local, and tribal governments.
This role is supportive to the Executive and Deputy Director of CPPC and is both dynamic and fast-paced in nature.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a policy analyst for arising state and local statutes and regulations on cannabis
- Manage tight client deadlines in response to legislative schedules and demands
- Provide strategic guidance for government clients
- Draft cannabis regulations in partnerships with government clients
- Provide implementation support as assigned
- Lead the creation of policy memos and public facing deliverables
- Assist in data collection and contribute to data analysis as needed.
Specialized Requirements
- Applicants must have experience in cannabis policy.
- Applicants must have knowledge of legislative, executive, and administrative functions.
- Applicants must have demonstrated ability to provide problem-solving consultation, manage projects and address diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
- Applicants should have 3- 5 years of related work experience.
- Applicants should have experience working with stakeholders.
- Applicants should have experience with communication efforts.
Education and Training
Candidates for this position must possess a bachelor degree in public policy, political science, economics or related degree and two to three years of related work experience. Preference will be given to those in prior regulatory roles.

Salary Range: $67,000 – $77,000

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
