Shetland man’s medical cannabis prescription seized by cops who refuse to return it and threatened to charge him

A MIGRAINE-stricken Scot has been threatened with charges after cops seized his medicinal cannabis prescription.

Liam Lewis, 29, has been left “distraught” after his monthly delivery was intercepted by cops using a sniffer dog at a mail sorting office in Lerwick, Shetland, on Saturday morning.

The 29-year-old, who suffers from Functional Neurological Disorder, only discovered there was an issue when his mail delivery note said it had been ‘delivered’ and when he checked was told it had been confiscated by officers.

After attending the local police station on the island to provide proof the oil was legally prescribed, he was told that didn’t make any difference and claims they refused to give him his medication.

Even after producing an ID card to confirm he is entitled to the cannabis oil, officers still won’t hand over the medication and now look likely to charge him for drug possession.

He blasted cops as he now has no medication to treat his debilitating condition.

He said: “I have been left totally distraught by what has happened. It’s outrageous.

“I now have no oil left and it looks like I won’t get this back so I am left in the lurch and face a horrendous few weeks until I can get another delivery.
