South Australia: Cannabis crop seized at Elizabeth North

A man has been arrested after hundreds of cannabis plants were found at Elizabeth North.

It will be alleged that about 11.50am on Thursday 25 January, police were called to a property on Womma Road after technicians from The Office of the Technical Regulator were investigating a large amount of electricity was being used in the street.

Police examined a house and suspected the electricity was being used to power a hydroponic setup.

Officers searched the house and located a total of 325 cannabis plants, 150 light shades, 148 ballast boxes, 101 globes and eight carbon filters, which were all seized from the address.

Every room in the house was being used to grow cannabis including the toilet and bathroom, and the electricity had been tampered with to power the equipment used in the hydroponic setup.

A 43-year-old man from the property was charged with cultivate a commercial quantity of cannabis, possess prescribed equipment and diverting electricity.

He was refused bail and appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
