Spanish police seize nearly 2 tons of hashish destined for the UK

The National Police in Spain’s Malaga province have intercepted a sizable drug shipment intended for the UK. The operation led to the seizure of 1,868 kg of hashish and the dismantling of a criminal gang. The gang’s activities included acquiring drugs in Spain for distribution in the UK. The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, one of whom was already wanted by British authorities.

The police also confiscated 45kg of marijuana, 580g of ketamine, five vehicles, eight mobile phones, 2,885 euros, and several counterfeit documents. The gang used false documentation to rent houses and vehicles for their illegal activities, and implemented extensive counter-surveillance measures.

The drugs, primarily hashish and marijuana, were concealed in shipments of frozen foods. The gang had also established a front company, using proxies to give the appearance of legal operations. Three of the arrested suspects have been remanded in custody.
