An Indonesian woman who tried to smuggle-in cocaine worth over 230 million rupees was arrested by customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake yesterday afternoon.
The 42-year-old woman arrived in Sri Lanka from Addis Ababa Airport in Ethiopia via Doha Airport in Qatar.
She had tried to smuggle 4.598 kilogrammes of cocaine into the country by hiding it among printed books.
The woman and the drugs are to be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations, a spokesman for the Customs Department said.
