One San Antonio-area student reportedly brought more than books and pencils to class this week. A 10-year-old girl was arrested in connection with bringing a “white substance” found on campus.
On Wednesday morning, January 29, a Seguin ISD fifth-grade student was arrested after school administrators found cocaine in a Jefferson Elementary School classroom, according to a news release.
The School Resource Officer at Jefferson Elementary School received word from the school administration about drugs being on campus grounds, police said in the release. The officer was given a “small, clear bag containing a white substance” that was found in the classroom.
A field test confirmed the white substance was cocaine hydrochloride, the release stated. An investigation done with the help of school administrators determined a 10-year-old fifth-grade girl was the one who brought the drugs to campus.
The Seguin ISD student was taken to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Probation Department and charged with possession of a substance in penalty group 1 in a drug-free zone, the release noted.
