UK: Cannabis factory discovered in former Barclay’s Bank in Cranbrook town centre

There have been no arrests so far and it is understood police are still at the scene today.

Neighbours said the door of the building, the town’s former Barclay’s Bank, had been broken, which is why they alerted police.

It is said the cannabis plants had been stripped of their leaves and there were questions as to whether a rival gang had struck in a usually sleepy rural town.

A spokesman for police added: “Kent Police received a report of a suspected cannabis cultivation shortly before 3pm on Wednesday.

“Officers attended a property in Stone Street, Cranbrook where more than 300 plants were found and seized along with cultivation equipment.

“Inquiries into the cultivation are ongoing.”
