UK: Research Associate Lancaster University Lancaster £28,331 – £32,817 a year

A postdoc position is available in the Wright lab in the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences Lancaster University, UK. The post is funded by MediCane Research and Development Ltd to establish a preclinical organoid model to test Cannabis-derived extracts for their impact on inflammatory pathways associated with gastrointestinal diseases.

Lancaster University has a world-class reputation as a centre for excellence in teaching and research. The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Medicine, is a rapidly growing, innovative and vibrant Division whose research effort is directed towards understanding basic cellular and physiological mechanisms that underpin disease states. Research areas include, but are not limited to, infectious diseases, parasitology, neurodegeneration, mental health, ageing, immunology and cancer biology.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual able to implement our plan of work and explore new avenues as they arise. Some experience of 3D organoid technology is essential. A background in cannabinoid biology is not a requirement but experience of live-imaging techniques and image analysis would be an advantage. The postholder will employ state of the art imaging, tissue culture methods and inflammatory models to explore the impact of Cannabis-extracts on intestinal inflammation during gastrointestinal diseases.

The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences is a friendly research environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee and which actively promotes a healthy work-life balance. The Faculty is committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies and has held a Silver Athena SWAN award since 2014 in recognition of its good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however, the role remains contingent on external funding which, at this time is for two years from the start of appointment.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups and are happy to consider flexible working requests.
