On Monday, Biloxi Police shared new information about the arrests of James Terry Mitchell III, and 33-year-old Malinda Jean Centifanto.
On Thursday, June 6, Gulfport Police accused Mitchell of stealing $20,000 from a 95-year-old woman. He reportedly also stole private documents from the victim.
Gulfport Police asked the Biloxi Police Department to help locate Mitchell at a home in the 2400 block of South Shore Drive.
On Friday, June 7, police went to the residence. Once there, they met with Centifanto as well as two small children. While speaking with Centifanto, police said they could smell marijuana coming from the residence, so they removed her and the children from the home.
While securing the home in order to obtain a search warrant, officers said they found several marijuana plants in plain view along with other items that are believed to be used for cultivating.
Police were then able to obtain a search warrant, and later found Mitchell hiding in a closet. He was arrested without incident.
He’s now charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, uttering counterfeit, and computer fraud.
He was issued a $50,000 bond, but Gulfport Police also served their fugitive from justice warrant, and a hold was placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Centifanto was also charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance, two counts of child endangerment, and hindering prosecution. She was issued a total bond of $200,000.
