Vermont CCB: Weekly Update: Monday July 1, 2024

Board Meeting Recap

The June meeting of the Cannabis Control Board was held last Wednesday, June 26. Among the usual business of approving staff recommendations for licensure, Board Chair James Pepper offered a remembrance of Sen. Dick Sears, who died last month. Sen. Sears played a key role in bringing Vermont’s adult-use cannabis market into reality.

Pepper also gave an overview of Act 166 (H.612), which became law last month. While some of the Act 166 changes take effect upon passage, it’s important to remember that much of this bill will only be implemented following an intensive rulemaking process by the Board. More announcements about that process will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, visit the Legislature’s website for the final version of the bill.

Scam Alert

CCB Staff have been made aware of scams targeting cannabis businesses in Vermont.

Scammers posing a utility companies make phone calls, often knowing key account details. They then demand payment under threat of the power being shut off.

This is just one of other scams that the CCB has learned of. We urge all licensees to use extreme caution with offering payments over the phone.

The Vermont Attorney General’s website has many resources about scam recognition and prevention, as well as a form for reporting scams.

Applications are now open for the new Propagation Cultivator license
