Temporary application window for Tier 1 & Tier 2 cultivation licenses

At its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 20, 2024, the Cannabis Control Board voted to temporarily reopen applications for Tier 1 and Tier 2 cultivation licenses. This limited application window will run for 30 days, beginning January 2, 2025.

After this period, all new cultivation license applications will be temporarily closed at the end of business on Jan. 31, 2025.

This temporary pause will allow the Board to collaborate with a consultant to conduct a comprehensive market analysis. The goal is to better understand and address the evolving needs of Vermont’s cannabis market.

Reminder: Retail license application window is now closed

At its September meeting, the Cannabis Control Board voted to stop accepting new retail applications as of Oct. 25, 2024. For more details you can read the full announcement in this news release.

New retail applications will remain unavailable until the Board votes to reopen this license type. This is expected to occur after the new siting rules take effect, anticipated in late spring 2025. However, no specific date has been set, as this timeline is subject to the ongoing rule-making process.

Other business

The Board also voted to set the regular meeting schedule for the first half of 2025.

The meetings will take place on the last Wednesday of each month from January to June 2025. They will be held on Microsoft Teams as well as in the main conference room at the CCB office.
